It started when she was just four years old. She and her parents were staying with friends when everyone became sick. Cawood was left alone as her father nursed the others back to help. As an adolescent, Cawood avoided drinking at high school and college parties because she was terrified of getting sick.
At one point, Cawood dropped to 84 pounds because she only ate vegetables and fruit.
