Editor’s Pick: Mineral Fusion Lip Tint, an All-Natural Lip Gloss You’ll Want in Every Shade

Finding a good natural lip gloss is not easy.

Last week, we were talking about how I like to layer the RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek in Curious underneath Mineral Fusion's Sheer Moisture Lip Tint in Smolder.

WELL. Lemme tell you more about those Lip Tints.

Even though they look like chubby pencils, which are all the rage right now, the texture is more like a gloss. A really, really great gloss—with a more than decent amount of sheer, buildable pigment.

The colours themselves are excellent, and could easily double as blushes, too.

So you don't have to be a natural beauty addict to fall in love with them.

Now, I know they are not new, but they're new to me.

Confession: I only found my (unopened) sample of Smolder a few weeks ago, after some deep spring/summer cleaning. The company had sent me some products to try back in 2013, when I got to interview their spokesperson, Emmanuelle Chriqui, but this one must've rolled behind a piece of heavy furniture that I never move, only to be found two years later. Oops!

But I'm glad I did find it, because I like this prod so much, I went to Loblaws and picked up five more shades.

So now I have six. They actually come in eight colours, but I skipped the two darker ones, at least for now. They didn't speak to me as much, but I can't guarantee I won't go grab those too, come fall.

Here's the lowdown on the shade selection:

  • Flicker: Berry
  • Shimmer: Coral shimmer
  • Glow: Bright pink
  • Glisten: Caramel shimmer
  • Twinkle: Rosy pink
  • Smolder: Cherry red
  • Blush (not shown): Earthy purple
  • Adorn (not shown): Rich plum

As for the formula, it is incredibly moisturizing and non-drying, which I can't say is the norm for natural lip prodz.

I really like the ingredients list as well, which features jojoba oil, beeswax, cocoa butter and vitamin E—all good things! Plus some peptides for a lil' lip-firming action.

Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis) Seed Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Isopropyl Palmitate, Cetyl Alcohol, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Aloe Barbadensis, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Eupatorium Rebaudianum Bertoni Leaf Extract, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf Extract, Thymus Vulgarus (Thyme) Extract, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, and Natural Vanilla Mint. May Contain: Red Iron Oxide, Yellow Iron Oxide, Black Iron Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Mica.

Although they are fragrance-free, there is a faint vanilla-mint flavour, which is so yummy. (Call me crazy, but I don't like minty lip glosses. Vanilla makes this so much better!)

Ready to see these on the lips? Here we go:

Flicker

Flicker is a berry. I don't think it's your typical berry, though—I'd describe it more as a muted red. This would look good on anyone!

Shimmer

Shimmer is a coral shimmer and my favourite of the bunch. It's like a natural lip gloss version of NARS Orgasm, a flattering peachy-pink with a subtle metallic sheen that's very on trend.

Glow

Glow is a bright pink, and definitely the most fun shade in the selection. Usually, cold candy pinks don't suit my colouring, but the slight sheerness makes this one work.

Glisten

Glisten is a caramel shimmer. I can't actually detect much shimmer when it's on, but I love how it matches my hair colour. My new favourite nude!

Twinkle

Twinkle is a rosy pink. This one whites out quite a bit of my darker lip tone, which is impressive, and the result is a modern take on a '60s pale pink. Much more wearable than the usual chalky lipsticks out there!

Smolder

Smolder is a cherry red. It's bright but not heavy-looking, and might just be the most perfect glossy red I've ever found. Love, love, love!
