From Red Lips to Soft Waves: 28 of the Best Celebrity Beauty Looks Lately

I've got a new batch of celebrity beauty looks to show you—and they're so gorgeous, they took my breath away! 

My new beauty crush, Ana de Armas, tops our list this week with a bright red lip (could she BE any prettier?). I was also impressed by what other celebs served up on the red carpet, such as Amy Adam's soft waves, Salma Hayek's glitter eyeshadow and Kate Bosworth's bold blush.

What I like: Ana's pop of red lipstick against flawless skin, bare eyes and perfectly beachy hair. This is how you do Ombré now, without looking dated! Darkened straight brows give definition, so she only needs long lashes with a sheer wash of copper on her lids. Everything has warm undertones, including the lipstick. What I'd change: Nothing.

Amy Adams

What I like: Amy's cascading strawberry waves, which are vintage-inspired but soft and fluffy. Her poreless skin has a lovely dewiness, with blush that looks like it's coming from within. Surprisingly, she pulls off the black liner and red lipstick (which are often too harsh on light complexions). What I'd change: The lipstick is a bit worn off, but it happens!

Salma Hayek

What I like: Salma's glitter eyeshadow to match her dress. I hope she made good use out of the KiraKira app that night! The lipstick choice is also fun—a medium cool pink that looks fantastic on her tan skin. I'm not usually one for false lashes, but they're a good pair and I think they work here. I love her eyebrows. What I'd change: The concealer under her eyes is too light.

Kate Bosworth

What I like: Kate's bright, flushed cheeks and matching sheer lipstick in pinky-coral. It's impressive how much blush she can wear without looking crazy! I've noticed she almost always does a lip, not an eye, pairing it with just mascara and feathered brows. With loose hair, this is a nice counterpoint to the bajillion-dollar necklace. What I'd change: Nothing.

Devon Aoki

What I like: Devon's graphic cat eyes with rosy-nude lips. She skipped mascara on her lower lashes, opting for champagne shadow all over her upper lids. While she was generous with the blush, we can happily still see her freckles. The brows are lighter to match her newly blonde hair. What I'd change: She pulls off blonde surprisingly well, but darker is more striking on her (see here).

Paris Jackson

What I like: Paris' Boho vibes, courtesy of the cool accessories and her textured, rooty hair. (I can't believe this, I actually like the roots!) Her skin is so, so smooth, with au naturel brows and lashes. This muted raspberry lip colour is more flattering to her complexion than the brown she wore to the TCAs. What I'd change: Nothing.

Kristen Stewart

What I like: Kristen's ultra-dramatic eyeliner. Even for her, this is very bold! Only a true artist could be that precise with the shape, which comes to a point at both the outer and inner corners. The touch of purple up top brings it all to life. Her brows are amped up, but everything else is subtle. I'm so happy her hair is growing out, and is darker again! What I'd change: Nothing.

Gal Gadot

What I like: Gal's natural, sun-kissed makeup and effortless updo. I especially like lip colour, which is Dior but I don't know what! Her shadow is the same tone, with a darker shade closer to the lash lines. I really appreciate seeing a face with natural movement to it! What I'd change: Nothing.

Dakota Johnson

What I like: Dakota's vampy blackened lipstick. It's so glam with her soft updo and gobs of diamonds! Her brows are a little stronger than usual, but the eye makeup is low-key, with defined lashes. What I'd change: I agree with the choice of a warm-toned blush, but I feel like this shade is a bit off with her skin tone.

Rashida Jones

What I like: Rashida's smooth, shiny lob and bangs. The latter are on the shorter side (above her brows) but look great on her. I always love her freckles, and the pink lip is pretty. What I'd change: The false lashes overpower this and aren't her style.

Hailee Steinfeld

What I like: Hailee's messy top knot, big brows and gorgeous eye makeup. I love the subtle, seamless smokiness and all the lashes! The non-nude lip colour is pretty—I think we're seeing a trend there. What I'd change: The overlining situation is puzzling!

Elizabeth Olsen

What I like: Elizabeth's subtle Ombré (sombré) and pinky makeup. Even though it's a trendy colour right now, she wears it in such a natural way. Overall, I love the radiance of this look—her skin glows and her eyes shine. What I'd change: The lower lip liner could be better blended, but it's not too bad.

Lily Collins

What I like: Lily's statement eyebrows and straight, centre-parted hair behind both ears. Those two things make any look instantly more polished! The makeup is all about shimmering brown shadow, cat eye flicks and a peach lip. Notice the absence of colour on the apples of her cheeks, replaced by a contour tone on the sides. What I'd change: The skin finish is a little powdery/patchy. And ghostly! But I know that's her thing.

Margot Robbie

What I like: Margot's sheer red lipstick (a great way to make any bold colour easier to wear). No false lashes, not even eyeliner—just mascara and a wash of barely-there pink shadow. The lob and waves are basically perfect; I love this length for her. What I'd change: Nothing.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

What I like: Rosie's insanely flawless, dewy skin! (This is her skincare routine, in case you're wondering.) As per usual, the emphasis is on the lashes and brows, with peachy-pinks for her lips and cheeks. What I'd change: Nothing, except she looks a little injected. I've said it before and I'll say it again: this will forever be my favourite Rosie look!

Daisy Ridley

What I like: Daisy's mesmerizing smoky eyes. This is my kind of eye makeup (and proves you don't always need false lashes!). I love the tightlining, touch of sparkle, and how the shading extends her eye shape up and out. Keeping everything else understated, it's just right with the high bun. What I'd change: Nothing.

Kelly Rowland

What I like: Kelly's gorgeous skin (just like I noticed at the AMAs!). I love the feminine updo and the sheer coppers on her lips and lids. What I'd change: She really doesn't need such crazy lashes—nobody does! And her brows are good already; not sure why she “Instagrammed” them. Just like before, the stripe down her nose is too obvious.

Connie Britton

What I like: Connie's long red hair and sheer, freckle-revealing skin finish. Has she ever looked better? Honestly, what a gorgeous woman! The peach lipstick and hint of blue eyeshadow are so youthful and flattering. What I'd change: I'm not crazy about the lashes. 

Kate Mara

What I like: Kate's hair is down! And it's long now! (And not blonde anymore!) I love this change for her; she just seems “softer.” The sparkly pink eyeshadow is also unexpected, as she usually does a dark lip. I love everything going on here! What I'd change: Nothing.

Emily Ratajkowski

What I like: Emily's glowing complexion and casual hair. She doesn't even have to try, you know? I like the black liner hugging her lash lines, and her natural brows. What I'd change: I'm all for a bold blush look (see: Kate Bosworth), but I don't think this is working. Probably because humans don't blush in peach?

Molly Quinn

What I like: Molly's cute freckles and glossy, candy-pink lips. Also her well-blended eyeshadow (which doesn't go above the crease) and soft lashes. What I'd change: Her brow pencil is too red.

Jennifer Hudson

What I like: Jennifer's piled-high curly updo. What a change from her short hair! I also see that her brow game has improved compared to the last time we saw her in 2015. What I'd change: It's a lot of eye makeup. Too much. I'd love to see her with a fresher, lighter touch.

Mandy Moore

What I like: Mandy's wavy, centre-parted lob. She looks very '70s glam here! The eyeshadow is cool because it picks up on the tone-on-tone highlights in her hair. I especially like her brows and lashes. What I'd change: The lip colour would be better pressed in, to avoid uneven edges. 

Jennifer Connelly

What I like: Jennifer's double-lined cat eyes. Closer to the lashes is a black, of course, but it's layered with a metallic navy (and natural lashes). It all brings out the amazing almond shape of her eyes. And gosh, could her eyebrows be any more glorious? Let's also take a moment to admire how she can pull off such an unforgiving, tight updo! What I'd change: Nothing. 

Sophia Bush

What I like: Sophia's metallic red lipstick. On its own, it's a bit of a risky colour as it could easily look too early '00s (and not in a good way). So pairing it with the rose gold shadow, all the way around the eyes, was a smart move. Soft brows and glowing skin complete the look. What I'd change: Nothing.

Jordana Brewster

What I like: Jordana's finely painted highlights. This is a really good example of how to do them on dark hair. She has enviably thick brows and lots of lashes, so those are the focus here, with some clever tightlining all the way around the eyes. What I'd change: The highlights at the inner corners of her eyes look dry… she needs Living Luminizer!

Marisa Tomei

What I like: Marisa's incredibly thick, long, wavy—and newly red!—hair. I'm digging the whole luxe vibe with the velvet top and gigantic earrings. Her skin looks really good, and I love the stained effect on her lips and cheeks. What I'd change: The brow pencil isn't quite a match, and I'm not sure about the yellow tones around her eyes (too much like a bruise?).

Sabrina Carpenter

What I like: Sabrina's russet makeup palette. Okay, it's a heavier, YouTube guru-style application. But the colour is so unusual—and I don't hate the idea of matching the smoky eyeshadow to the glossy lipstick. The messy ponytail (and messy brows!) keep things from looking too “perfect.” What I'd change: The lip liner isn't blended on the top lip. I'm okay with her brows actually!
