There are TONS of lists out there that want to show you what awesome tattoos are, and you should really check ’em out in order to create your own criteria of awesomeness. But I can assure you this list it meticulously picked up to have a little bit of everything.

Awesome tattoos can be about pretty much everything, from traditional to symmetrical; they can be very elaborate designs or simple clean ones; black and white or watercolor.

Some tattoos are very realistic, other are cartoon like. Some designs have a 3d effect and others make the most of it with little brushes.

You also have to think about the placement. It is very important to do your research on what a specific part of the body represents and, if you’re a newcomer to tattoos, how much it hurts and is it appropriate or, better said, recommended for noobs.

Either way, let me introduce you to a very short list that I’ve prepared for you, here are some of the most awesome tattoos that I’ve found!

AWESOME TATTOOS:

1. 3D Tattoos

The 3d trend makes amazing tattoos. They look like they come out of your body, and have a body of their own. In this example we see a prehispanic sculpture very similar son Mayan or Aztec (tribes situated in what’s now Mexico and Central America) culture.

 

2. Neo Traditional Tattoos

So not every one of these tattoos that you’re going to see are “amazing” to the regular eye, you need to understand the technique and potential of these trends. In the case of neo traditional tattoos there are plenty of stuff to see.

Remember that amazing is not necessarily something that blinds you, but something extremely well done by a skillful artists, too.

 

3. Triggering Voids Amazing Tattoos

This is a trend that I’m very uncomfortable with since it’s triggering to me. Maybe it has to do with that phobia of some patterns (it’s called trypophobia and it’s painful to have it).

 

4. Amazing Tattoos that tell a Personal Story

There are also a kind of awesome tattoos that not necessarily are of a fascinating technique or craftsmanship, but that tell a story worth hearing. This picture shows a tattoo that made use of a scar that the wearer has from a clearly traumatic event.

 

5. Amazing Dark Tattoos

This list could have been made entirely with Ien Levin’s tattoos, in fact I think that we have a couple of his works around here. This Ukraine based tattoo artists has an amazing skill and technique, not to mention one-of-a-kind designs that take you to a different dimension where everything is darker, creepier, artistic and amusing.

 

6. Galactic Crystals Awesome Tattoos

There are actually a lot of these kind of tattoos, which makes it its own trend. I love art that has to do with the universe and stars and the color purple, and this technique has it all!

 

7. Amazing “Look What’s Inside” Tattoos

You can also find a bunch of these tattoos but this one is particularly awesome to me, since it’s a full back tattoo.

 

8. Angle Fighting Demon Tattoo

Amazing tattoos are also the ones that tell a story. In this case, this tattoos shows the story of good fighting evil.

 

9. Creepy and Awesome Tattoos

This one looks like taken straight out of a nightmare!

10. Amazing Whole Front Owl Tattoo

This one also looks like made by or inspired by Levin’s work. Owls are typically associated with wisdom and intelligence.
