Q: I've been thinking about getting a completely new haircut and/or colour, but I have no idea what I should do. My hair is naturally dark brown, wavy and kind of frizzy sometimes.

I want something that will give me an overall better appearance and complement my skin tone. Thanks! — Starleen

A: Starleen, cool—never heard your name ever…

I personally think you have perfect hair as is, but I have a few suggestions for fantasy change and styling ideas.

This classic cut would suit you and work well with your natural texture:

I would keep your current dark colour with this option.

Wearing this cut a little looser will be less edgy, and super-pretty:

To add to the softness, some delicate highlights and lighter ends will be a great summer look for you.

This would be a fantastic dramatic change for you:

Taking it down to a short cut and with the tips coloured caramel to show off the new texture and layers.

When growing the short cut out, you could sport this shorter bob with the grown-out coloured ends:

The second shot of your loose hair inspired me to add barrettes to your styling repertoire. Keeping your natural texture with a deep side-swept fringe, secured to stay out of your face, would rock:

This is an “un-styled” style that looks effortless, yet packs a visual punch for your personal style.

Another super-cool new way to approach the barrette:

This is super-elegant…

This is a bang that would be perfect for you—it will work with your hair and not overpower your face:

This is also a tone I figure would work well with your skin.

I hope you find inspiration within this selection…
